Yoga Hike Fundraiser In Honor Of My Mom

Hi, I’m Amelia Andaleon, yoga instructor and outdoor enthusiast in Danville, California. In honor of my mom Norma Andaleon Cooper, who is living with Alzheimer’s, I am raising funds to help find a cure to end Alzheimer’s. I’ve led various yoga hikes and meditation hikes over the years and for this special event I am happy to funds for the End Alzheimer’s Association.

About the Event

The hike will begin near Danville, California and will be about 4-5 miles.  In March the wildflowers like poppies will be popping.  Springtime is a beautiful time to hike while the hills are still green and before it’s gets too hot and dry.  You will be presented with options for shorter or longer hikes.  The hike will involve some hills.  You will be led in gentle yoga poses to connect to nature, calm the nervous system, and stretch.
FYI – The address listed on this event page is for a Park and Ride lot in Danville, which is an optional location to coordinate carpools.  The exact trailhead location will be emailed to registered hikers.  Depending on the weather and trail conditions, we may meet at a trailhead in Danville or Alamo.

FAQs

Where do the funds go?
All funds raised through Walk to End Alzheimer’s further the care, support and research efforts of the Alzheimer’s Association. The Alzheimer’s Association is a nonprofit 501(c)3 organization. All donations are tax-deductible as allowed by law.

What fitness level is required?
We will begin our hike together and everyone can take their own pace.  The trail will be straightforward (eg. you can’t get lost if you stay on the trail!) and at any time you can turn around if you opt for a shorter hike.  Good hiking shoes and the ability to hike up and down some gradual hills is recommended.

Is this a dog-friendly hike?
As much as I love dogs, including my own, because there are sections of the hike where dogs are not allowed in the Diablo Foothills, please leave your sweet pups at home for this event.

What happens if it rains?
This is a rain or shine event. However, in the case of severe weather, we will cancel. If this is the case, we will update you with an email and add an update to the event page.
