Cool Down!

Looking for sea turtles in Hawaii

Hot summer temps getting to you?

  • Get wet! Run through the sprinklers, jump in a lake, SUP Yoga, float down a river, swim in the ocean, bathe under a waterfall!
  • Hydrate! Add electrolytes like a pinch of pink himalayan sea salt or juice of a lemon or lime.
  • Blue! Wear and look at colors in the cool blue spectrum, that look like the ocean.
  • Listen to my latest podcast episode Cool and Calm Down: Soothing Cooling Waterfall Meditation (to cool down when you’re feeling hot physically and emotionally)
SUP Yoga in Alameda, CA
When it was 100 degrees inland, temps were 30 degrees cooler on the Bay.

Stay cool friends!!

Rest, Reset, Recharge!

School’s out and it’s time for the summertime 3 R’s: Rest, Reset, Recharge!

In California, life is opening up again and for my family that means beach days, vacationing, and all the logistics to make getaways happen. One thing I’m learning is to avoid feeling like I need a vacation to recover from my vacation!!

Remember why you needed that vacation? Because you needed a break from the hustle and bustle? Make time for fun, play time, a beach read, naps, extra sleep; make time to feed your soul, make time to do nothing. 🙏🏽☺️

Do yourself a favor and SLOOOOW DOWN. During your getaways, make sure to REALLY get away from feeling stressed and overwhelmed.

Tune into my podcast: “Take a Pause: Box Breathing Meditation.” Practice a simple deep breathing technique followed by a quiet meditation…17 minutes to take a seat or lie down. Click here to give it a listen.

Self care is the best care!

World Meditation Day – May 21st

Do you struggle to meditate?  When I started, I found meditation impossibly uncomfortable and stressful. I was experiencing the OPPOSITE of what meditation promised me.  For my yoga teacher training, I committed to it.  I dropped it.  I started off and on.  Then, I finally stuck with it.  It became a habit.  And, now meditation is a part of my daily ritual, like brushing my teeth.  I say it’s my favorite addiction.  I love the calm I experience when I meditate, and how it helps me in my life.  Like anything else, it takes practice to condition your muscle of mindfulness.

If you haven’t tried it, or it’s been awhile, I highly recommend it!

Press pause, breathe deep, even if just for 5 minutes a day, relax the body and mind.

Top 10 Benefits of Meditation

  • Reduced Stress.
  • Emotional Balance.
  • Increased Focus.
  • Reduced Pain.
  • Reduced Anxiety.
  • Increased Creativity.
  • Reduced Depression.

PRESENCE (week one) “40 Days to Personal Revolution” by Baron Baptiste

One of the best decisions I ever made in my life was embarking on my Baptiste yoga journey. And, one of the most impactful Baptiste programs and books is “40 Days to Personal Revolution – to Radically Change Your Body and Awaken the Sacred Within Your Soul by Baron Baptiste.

I am on an amazing team of teachers leading this 40 Days program through Baptiste Power Yoga San Francisco and am offering support and commitment to the daily yoga and meditation practice by publishing weekly episodes aligned with the weekly theme and focus points.

Week One theme: PRESENCE.

And, the first two laws are:

  • Law One: Seek the Truth
  • Law Two: Be Willing to Come Apart

Here are the iTunes podcast links to a meditation and yoga class you can use during Week One of your 40 days program, or even if you’re not following the 40 days book! First preference is to get yourself to a class AND for times when that’s not possible, these episodes are for you! Creating a “no excuses!” option to support your commitment to a daily practice! Of course, remember one day of rest every week from yoga! Meditation every day, asana practice 6 days/week.
