Monday October 6th is a Supermoon, one of three consecutive supermoons, when the moon reaches its closest point to earth, its perigee (you’re welcome for that Scrabble word! LOL). Full moons represent the peak of the lunar cycle, bringing illumination, and can highlight what no longer serves you. This culmination of energy, following the intentions set during the new moon, makes it a powerful period for releasing negative patterns, self-limiting beliefs, or old wounds to make space for personal growth.
Full Moon Ritual
Repeat this ritual under the full moon or several days while you are still under the halo of the full moon.
Release what no longer serves you. Let go of negative patterns, self-limiting beliefs, toxic habits or behaviors, unhook yourself from relationships or situations that pull you away from evolving and aligning to the best version of yourself.
You will need:
- Journal, pen, and paper (for burning)
- A flame (eg. candle, fire pit, lighter)
- A fire-safe receptacle for safe burning (burn OUTSIDE)
- Water for rinsing (eg. bowl with water, if in a group, a pitcher used to pour on each other’s hands, a natural water source like a river
1 Create a Sacred Space
- Find a comfortable, quiet place to sit, outside in nature if possible.
- Clear your space by smudging with sage or lighting incense, and remove another clutter.
2 Guided Imagery Meditation
- Take a few cleansing breaths.
- Imagine the rays of the full moon shining on you like a silver waterfall.
- Reflect on anything you are holding onto which is not serving you.
- Feel that silver waterfall softly rinse away the residue of what no longer belongs.
- Meditate until you have clarity about what you are ready to let go.
3 Write It Down
- At the top of the page write: “Today, [month, day, year], I [your name] release:”
- Create your list of what you want to release (eg. self-limiting beliefs, patterns, behaviors, relationships, situations)
- Then write: “By letting go, I take back my power. I create space for freedom and ease in my life.”
4 Burn Baby Burn
- Breathe in then release with a sigh.
- Look at your piece of paper in front of the flame.
- Say out loud: “I release and let go” as you let a corner touch the flame and begin to burn.
- Place your piece of paper in your burn-safe receptacle or fire pit.
- Watch the flames burn what you are release and literally watch your intentions go up in smoke.
5 Purify
- Rinse your hands symbolizing the cleansing of the past and beginning fresh and new.
- Dry your hands and place them on your heart.
- While you press your palms into your heart, breathe in gratitude for this fresh start.
6 Integrate
- Sit in silence for a few minutes and then be with what is.
- If you wish, write down your insights and inspiration in your journal.
Burn away what no longer serves you then…let that shit go!

May you be free of suffering…namaste,
